Dr. Dyah Ayu Nila Khrisna is a full-time faculty member at Sebelas Maret University who has been serving since 2006. She holds a doctorate and is qualified to teach in the fields of Applied Linguistics and Translation. Her teaching focuses primarily on Linguistics and Translation, while her interdisciplinary expertise includes Audiovisual Translation, Applied Linguistics, and Translation Theory and Practices. Her academic research enriches her teaching significantly, providing a foundation of expertise and fresh insights. Her exploration of children's literature translation enables students to appreciate the cultural and linguistic nuances required when translating for young readers. Her research in audiovisual translation develops students’ practical skills in subtitling and dubbing, equipping them with tools needed in the translation industry. Additionally, her work on appraisal in translation offers deeper understanding of evaluative language and strengthens students’ critical translation skills.
Her professional activities include serving as a lecturer, researcher, and translation reviewer, particularly in the areas of audiovisual translation, linguistic appraisal, and translation practices. She is an active member of Masyarakat Linguistik Indonesia (MLI) and the English Studies Association in Indonesia (ESAI). Her international experiences include attending TESOL in Denver in 2009 and being a visiting scholar at the University of Northern Colorado, USA. She received the TESOL Summit Travel Grant funded by the US Department of State in 2009 and was honored with the Satya Karya Lancana X Tahun in 2024, an award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia for a decade of dedicated service as a civil servant.
