Dr. Ida Kusuma Dewi is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), specializing in translation studies with a particular focus on dialect, literary, and museum text translation. Her research interests center on the translation of politeness strategies, literary dialects, and reader response, especially in the context of Indonesian culture. She obtained her doctoral degree from UNS in 2019 and her M.A. in English Literature from the University of Birmingham, UK (2000).
Dr. Dewi has led and participated in research projects that explore how translation shapes meaning across cultural boundaries. Her recent studies have examined the accessibility of museum texts, the pedagogical potential of children’s storybook translation, and the adaptation of African-American English dialects in Indonesian. She has contributed to translation training and policy efforts as an invited expert at national institutions, including the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan Republik Indonesia), the Language Development and Fostering Agency (Badan Bahasa Republik Indonesia), and the Cabinet Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia (Sekretariat Kabinet Republik Indonesia).
