Karunia Purna Kusciati is a full-time lecturer at Universitas Sebelas Maret, where she has been teaching since 2009. Holding a Master’s degree, her areas of expertise include American Culture Studies, Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Drama Studies, and English. Her teaching focuses on Media and Culture Studies and integrates interdisciplinary aspects such as American Studies, culture, language, and media. She actively conducts research related to her teaching subjects, including topics like Social Media Studies, British and American Identities, Introduction to American History, and Advanced Integrated Speaking and Listening. In addition to her role as a lecturer, she serves as a consultant for undergraduate theses in her fields of study. She is also experienced in teaching English as a foreign/second language and BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for non-native speakers). Karunia has published several journal articles, including works on the representation of internet influencers and the portrayal of Donald Trump in Indonesian media. She is a member of ESAI (English Studies Association in Indonesia) and HISKI (Association of Indonesian Literature Scholars). Internationally, she has presented at conferences in Malaysia and the Philippines and participated in academic collaborations in Taiwan, supported by Universitas Sebelas Maret and the Taiwan Center. She is currently planning to pursue a doctoral degree and has co-authored a book, for which she and her colleagues obtained an intellectual property right.
