Prof. Riyadi Santosa is a full professor in Systemic Functional Linguistics who has been affiliated with Sebelas Maret University since 1986. He holds a doctorate and is fully qualified (venia legendi) to teach subjects such as English Syntax, Critical Discourse Analysis, Systemic Functional Linguistics and Discourse, Linguistics Research Methods, and Linguistics Seminars. His teaching focuses primarily on the same areas, and his interdisciplinary engagement includes linguistics research methods and critical discourse analysis. His academic contributions include participation in government-funded research grants, consultancy services for thesis and journal article writing at undergraduate to PhD levels, and serving as a reviewer for LPDP Scholarship Awards. He has also acted as a consultant for in-service training programs for the Ministry of Cabinet Secretary. His research outputs are integrated into his teaching materials, including studies on politeness strategies for Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia and genre-based language strategies for digital tourism promotion in Surakarta. He served as the General Head of the English Department from 1999 to 2007, Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences from 2011 to 2019, and Head of the Academic Senate from 2019 to 2028.
